1. Sewing. A device for storing pins and sharp needles. For some explicable reason (solely whimsical?), almost always resembles a tomato:

and often includes a strawberry, which is filled with an abrasive that sharpens when the pin is inserted and removed.

2. Optics. A type of optical distortion prevalent with wide-angle lenses, where straight lines appear to curve inward.

Evidenced particularly in 70° and 90° ERS units, where the shutter cuts do not appear straight.
