Piece of stage rigging/lighting hardware resembling a lighting side arm, but used to prevent a pipe batten from rolling in its lift chains when lighting fixtures are roostered (not hung directly below the mounting pipe).
The c-clamp is attached to the batten, adjacent to each lift line, with the 1/2" pipe extending vertically above, then the eye is secured to (tied around) the lift-line, often with sash cord. The 1/2" pipe is typically 24"-36" long.
Pipe stiffener(s) are usually not necessary when batten clamps are used as proper connection to a counterweight fly system's lift lines.
