Quarter Line

In reference to a proscenium stage. An imaginary line, running US-DS parallel to the stage's Centerline and bisecting the distance between center and the onstage edge of the side masking (legs). Every stage will have two: the SR1/4-line and the SL1/4-line. Most often used in dance. Often referenced when documenting a lighting focus. The Near1/4-line is closest to the sidelight position (boom or Pipe End) and the Far1/4-line is on the opposite side of the stage. Often represented on drawings as a long dash followed by two dots.
