rider-friendly

A term used to describe the most common, industry-standard, accepted (though not necessarily the best) models of equipment, as detailed on artists' list of requirements (rider). It might be noted that the term is largely a marketing gimmick--the Shure SM-58 is considered a very rider-friendly vocal microphone (and not to detract from it) but it is hardly the best available microphone.
