Most commonly refers to a lighting position, usually a small boom, that is designed to be moved through the backstage area between cues. Usually equipped with caster and plenty of cable slack to aid in this movement. Often used as a moveable special when booms in each entrance are impractical or cost-prohibitive.

See "A Practical Guide to Stage Lighting," 2nd ed., by Steve Shelley, for an example of Rovers in a light plot.
