soft-reset

Used when speaking of moving lights, a command sent by the console to the fixture telling it to restart or re-calibrate. Also known as "Home," "Cal," or "Initialize." Usually involves setting the Control Channel to a specific DMX value, but not 0 or 255. Some fixtures require a multi-step process so the fixture can't re-initialize accidentally, which usually involves closing the douser first, then within a certain time frame, sending the "reset" command for a specific length of time.
