1. Synonymous with leg, a drapery or masking intended to block horizontal sightlines. Often framed and thus a pair of hard legs. Sometimes used to refer only to the first pair of legs upstage of the proscenium. A partner of teaser (which is interesting in that general usage has teaser and tormentor meaning the same thing). But in theatrical drapery-speak, "tormentor=leg, teaser=border."
2. A vertical lighting boom, torm tower at the side of a stage. As above, may only refer to the first booms (one on either side) US of the Prosc.
2a. If on the side of the apron or on the auditorium side wall, often called "House Tormentor (s)" synonymous with "box boom position."
