Glass gobos and 360Q not friends?

Yup. We used to use a 360Q 6x9 to keep our lunch hot while working tech when the theatre was dark. There is also a certain vendor who will go unnamed who his famous for his Source Four PAR-b-Que at LDI.

    Buying a Console Online

While I agree that going with a local vendor is usually best in most cases. With ETC, its more of a mixed bag. ETC's tech support is the top in the industry. When I had a problem with my Ion I called them and they had a loaner console fedex-ed out right away. Since I needed the box to send...

What kind of moving light is most prevalent?

Its rare to find just a specific model of mover in a venue. Usually you will find just one brand, but multiple models. For instance: In a club, you're likely to find Martin MAC 250 Kryptons and MAC 250 Washes. If its a new club, maybe MAC 301's or MAC 401's. Its more likely to find VL...

Conventional Fixtures Lamps for R40 strips

We've been using the Bulbrite Halogen H120BR40/FL for a few months now and they are an excellent replacement. Weight isn't an issue, they are the same outer diameter and they have a longer lifespan. Check them out: Halogen, Reflectors, BR40, 695120, H120BR40FL, Bulbrite

    Conventional Fixtures Platinum PAR Lamps

The rated life span is why they are so much cheaper. A standard 1000w PAR64 lamp will usually have a "Q" in the title. This designates it's a long life lamp (may mean something else too, but that's what I was told by my rep). Any PAR lamp with a "Q" should have a minimum of 4000hr lifespan...

    X-Keys

If you buy the X-keys from ETC (or if you are nice about it) and ask, they will give you a set of the plastic key caps for the x-keys. You do have to ask though.

    X-Keys

Thanks, forgot about the need for the PI software too. Its been a while. You are correct that any usb keyboard device will work with the console. My statement is more to the effect that the joystick model won't function as an encoder.

    Watch Out !

Excellent Suggestion that should be written in the front of every user manual and in day one of training for each op. Gotta keep in mind, in basic terms consoles nowadays are just computers with massively complex keyboard interfaces. You can't put a virus scanner on the console, so...

    X-Keys

The only supported version on the EOS line (includes Element) is the 58 key pro. Make sure the one you get is a USB model and not the PS/2 version. They can be purchased from an ETC dealer or found pretty cheap on Amazon. Couple of things. If you buy it from anywhere but ETC, you will...

Newbie ETC Ion question about moving lights

It depends on the HES software version on the fixtures also. I have Studio Colors and Cyberlights both and neither will arc till they see data, but they will stay on until lamped off. Its good that they fixed that in later models. The lamp off (fixture shutdown on HES) has to be run twice in a...

"Remote View" and RFU options for Emphasis system + dimmer...

I had an Emphasis system for a number of years and you don't have to operate the facepanel console and server in the same location. They just have to be on the same network segment. If you are already moving the facepanel to the deck are you using its video ports? or do you need an...

    Source Four Jr. vs. 360Q

Hemi, take a look at the L&E Leko, its almost identical to the 360Q's, but much cheaper. Also, as much as I hate to promote it, Lightronic's Leko is actually pretty decent and you could get a true 19 deg. Both leko's are affordable options that would help you stretch your budget.

    ETCnet

You can get more information on ETCNet 1 at ETC's wiki. There are a few options for Net1, but finding them will be an issue as ETC doesn't make them anymore. I agree with the above comment about finding an RFU, it would be your least expensive route.
