Hello Everyone!!

I'm a new user to Control Booth, but I have browsed it constantly for show questions. I'm a non-conventional TD. By non-conventional, I mean I didn't go to school to do my job. I've apprenticed with a genius of TDs for several years and have now branched off to work on my own.

I'm currently the TD for two groups in the Little Rock area: Community Theatre of Little Rock and The Studio Theatre, Inc. I also own a small production company that does a lot of work in churches, and strangely has a huge client base in the world of female impersonation. To add to these duties, I have recently brought in by The Old State House as their lighting designer. (a project I have loved. Not many of us can say we've done shows in the same room that Arkansas seceded from the Union in.)

I got my start at the Historic Royal Theatre in Downtown Benton, Arkansas. The Royal is a 180 seat former movie theatre. Prior to being owned by the Royal Players, we were owned and operated by Jerry Van Dyke. I did a lot of work with the Young Players, a youth group based out of the same space.

CTLR is a non-profit group approaching our 60th anniversary season. We are the oldest community theatre group in the state. I was hired on about 8 months ago when the Board of Directors was seeking to restructure and re-imagine the mission and operations of the group. In my time with CTLR, we have completely overhauled our lighting system, upgraded our scene shop, and begun to improve the quality and overall vision of the productions.

Through connections made at CTLR, I have been hired on as the TD for a new group in Little Rock, The Studio. The Studio is in our infancy. We are currently working on a remodel of a historic building in Downtown Little Rock. The goal for this space is a 150 seat theatre with a lobby bar. The Studio will house several non-profits as well as our newly formed group that will focus primarily on musicals.

On top of all of the chaos of rebuilding a non-profit, building a new theatre, and owning a business, my wife and I are expecting our first born in September.

I look forward to learning more and helping other people learn through this community. It has definitely helped me on projects.
