1. When a venue/promoter gives money to an artist to supply their own catering or production element instead of the venue/promoter providing it. It is either done because the venue/promoter can not provide catering/production or the artist does not approve of the catering/production provided. AEA contracts are very specific regarding when the producer must provide the cast with a hot meal (often related to the duration between curtain-down and half-hour on two-show days).

2. A lump sum of money paid in consideration of early termination of an employment contract. For example, a show's producers may negotiate a buyout with a star they want to replace, but who, per contract, can't be fired.
