Output issues

I'm sure this is a simple problem, but I figured I would ask anyways. I started a new job and so I do not know the space much at all. We got a new ETC Ion to replace an Expression 3. The Expression communicated with the fixtures before I unplugged it and put the Ion in its place. I have the Ion up and running, except that it isn't communicating with the fixtures. DMX is plugged in, output to DMX is checked. Patched 1 to 1 (as was the expression).

'Output to DMX' is checked - you're connected to your fixtures/dimmers via DMX, or via some species of ETCnet? If you're connecting by an ethernet connection, it's possible your old Expression 3 was outputting ETCnet (a deprecated network protocol), whereas the Ion would be outputting Net2 or Net3. Are you runnning hardline (5-pin XLR) DMX, or via a Cat5 cable.

Other small thing - are you plugged into the correct output on the back of the console? (DMX1 and/or DMX2)? The default patch settings have the DMX 2 outputting universe 2, I think.

Check that the Ion has the correct personalities for the fixtures you're using, and that the fixtures are patched correctly.
