1. Electrical. Verb. To cause a circuit breaker or other OCPD device (GFCI, RCD) to open, due to a short, overload, or some other reason.

2. Scenic. Verb. (aka "tripping a drop"). Another method of hiding a backdrop where flyspace is limited. (Westcoast is another.) A secondary batten or set of lift lines is attached to the bottom of the drop. When flown out, this secondary batten causes the drop to fold in half, thus taking up half the height.

Alternatively, the secondary batten may be attached to the drop one third of the total height up from the stage deck, which will fold the drop in thirds.

Cycloramas are often tripped to release stress on the fabric when in the stored position.
