Which way should the door open?

There isn't the space for the door to open offstage. There needs to be 2 actors hidden in there at one point, so there just isnt the space for the door to open inwards.

Which way should the door open?

Sorry, should've given more information! The show is a pantomime, and is part of a village square type scene. The door leads into a bakery. In one scene, someone emerges from the door in a cloud of "smoke" to give hte impression of the bakery being on fire.

Which way should the door open?

Just wondering which way you would make the door open if you were building this piece. Would you do it the way it is in the drawing, or the opposite way round? PS: its just a quick sketchup drawing, and isnt to scale

What to do when waiting for a show to start

Usually hanging around by the desks, generally making sure nothing gets lifted. If the sound op is about, then I'll go and make some tea/coffee. Then perhaps a quick check to see nothings tripped/blown without me noticing.Perhaps assist with any last minute checking of radio mics too...

    Curtain call for crew?

Nothing hurts like not being acknowledged in the program. Everyone else, even the janitors that opened up and made my life hell for a week got their names in!I feel that the crew shouldn't be seen onstage. It removes some of the magic to see them all out on stage.

    Design switching remotely

Thanks again for the replies. As this is a community theatre project, its on a very tight budget, and the lighting is on loan for this particular one. Its all analogue control, with a selection of Par56's and some other bits and bobs that I might be able to get, so it looks like DMX is out, cos...

    Design switching remotely

hello. A show I'm working as part of requires the use of 2 (or perhaps more) of these cheap flashing/spinning beacons much like this: Yellow Fuzz Light - DJ Equipment from Djkit.co.uk My problem is switching them on and off from a remote location since all the ones I've seen have a power...

    Fixing scaffold to wall

ah ha. Cheers for the speedy responses. I will investigate Tapcons and see what I can find. Theres no need to worry about it being used for hanging lamps off on a later production since the bars are being hired in for the duration of the show, and I happen to also be the lampie working this...

    Fixing scaffold to wall

Hello,Thought this would be best posted here, but if I'm wrong, sorry. For an upcoming show, I need to fix some scaffold poles (48mm pipe) to a wall as part of the set. The wall is made of cinder block, and is the back wall of our stage, where our cyc should be!Also, it doesn't need to...

    cleaning fog machines?

This did indeed help.turned out the pump was full of gunk and grime. Cleaned it out and the output is a million times better, but its still making the knocking sound. I suspect that this might just be the fact its a cheap pump, but I'm not sure.

    cleaning fog machines?

Did a quick search and nothing came up, but sorry if this has been covered before.I pulled our cheap fog machine out of storage the other day to make sure it fitted in the space left for it in the set. it did, thank god.however, it doesnt appear to be very healthy. when its heated up, and...

Putting A Face To The Name

Not as active as I really should be on this board. Its given me loads of information, so its about time I gave some back. Its not much, but its a start! This one is me up a rather dodgy scaffold tower hanging/focusing/gelling/cleaning for a school show I was drafted in for. I was happy because I...

    Wearing Blacks in Non-Backstage?

I always wear black, no matter where I am, or what i'm doing on a night.I'm usually on lights FOH, but we dont have a booth. (its just a hall we convert to a theatre for our shows) so I can be seen at any time by the audience. also, i usually end up crawling about on stage at some point during...
