Have a friend who's looking for some basic movers for his house parties and found these being offered at $45 apiece. Can't really find info on them so I'm wondering if anybody is familiar with them and might be able to advise? Is this a good price or are they really not worth any amount of money?
Yes. And that's what I tried doing. But for some reason even after I edit out the dimmer values in the programmer it reverts back to having them as if I never did so. I made the fixture profile before I really knew the program well, and made a rookie mistake. I have since edited the dimmer...
It should also be noted that morphing the fixtures into another type of beam did not fix the issue, nor did morphing them back into the corrected fixtures.
Using Chamsys MagicQ, I built a great big stage with lots of fixtures and built everything in viz before I started really programming. Once I started putting my executor pages together, it became obvious that there was a big problem.Turns out, the fixture profiles for all of my beams had...
Last gig I did we ended up having a lot of condensation on some of the AC vents that would drip onto the crowd and almost the gear. Room was small with plenty of warm bodies dancing, and the temp was set to about 70/72.
We’re probably going to use this venue again, so next time the owner asks me...
My current setup has 3 different midi controllers, so I would definitely be trying to have those add on to whatever console I get. I know almost all of them support midi in. I'll look at the Chamsys community mentioned, and try to find more about the other options like Hog, Ma, or Avo. I really...
I figured it was something like that, but I've been having a hard time finding out how each platform does that in their own particular way, minus the Chamsys MQ consoles. From what I've heard, each platform has their pros and cons but I can't find out what those might be
I'm still mostly stuck in the realm of DJ & small stage lighting, but I'm trying to figure out what consoles to consider as a longer term goal to set my sights on. Even though I'm having trouble deciphering the functional differences of the typical brands like MA, Hog, Avo, etc., I find myself...
I'm trying to avoid saying specifics about my setup. It seems that people will start talking about what gear I should get or be critical of what I have instead of talking about what I should learn. So without being too vague, I use software on my computer that has no proprietary hardware...
One of the things I'm currently trying to flesh out more is my "builds" and "drops" presets/modifiers. I'm not as much of a flash & trash person because while that has a big wow factor I know that those moments have to feel earned or else you'll just fatigue people, and by doing so do a...
@TimMc I do stage lighting for small electronic music events. So I when it comes to the pre-visualization, I'm often thinking about how the wash lighting will fill out space and set the tone, how the beams will visually draw the eye, and how the speed of the movers will affect the feel of the...
Thank you all, especially for the specifics. I'll for sure check out the book by Steven Louis Shelley, and look into the different styles of lighting. I am trying to brainstorm creative stage fixtures to make to add to my setup since I've been doing a bunch of pixel mapping.@MNicolai...
Tldr; I am between beginner and intermediate adeptness and have run into a wall finding resources to level up my skillsets.I originally posted on reddit a while back, and was frustrated by most of the responses being along the lines of "get more expensive fixtures". And that is the most...
Budget. I need the sides to move in unison or symmetrically, otherwise it looks lopsided and careless. I've tried compensating with different movement speeds and offsets, but it just doesn't work out. So I want to sell one (or both) in order to have a matching pair. But I'm not a professional LD...
Sorry for my delayed response, and thank you for all of yours. Out of internet range for a bit but I'm back.@ScottT, I checked, and sadly it doesn't seem like it. Very simple menu, no speed setting.@JonCarter , closer to light shows. Mostly dynamic movement for electronic music stages, and...
