West Side Story on Small Stage

ALL great responses. I am especially intrigued with the idea of supporting the balcony structure from above. My initial drawings include a 4' X 24' raised platform (balcony), back wall painted to brick, with bar covered windows.I am also sensitive to the director's (and maria Diva...

West Side Story on Small Stage

:) Okay, so the good news is, that we have been granted rights to do West Side Story in December. The challenge is our facility... we have only 20' from back wall to downstage edge, and 45 ' proscenium! WSS is a dance show...so Dance Director insists that little to no space be utilized for...

    Practical, "danceable" street lamps

I was going to center the post (drain pipe) at the same time I poured the concrete in the tub ... I can't do that if I am casting it upside down; so I should leave a hole for the pole to be set in later? Do you think that generally, this is the best solution to my problem ...I have to make...

    Practical, "danceable" street lamps

ALL great suggestions .... 150# per cubic foot? WOW ..., so I am guessing, with the size of the container i am considering .... this whole unit is going to top 200# .... not an easy task to manuever ... hope the wheels work out!

    Practical, "danceable" street lamps

These are all valuable responses. After a lengthy discussion with the dance director involved today, I believe that I will attempt to create my own base with a wash tub (you know the type; metal ... ) I will use 4" (3") drain pipe centered in the basin, concrete set to hold it and provide...

    Practical, "danceable" street lamps

:( Wow, now the dance director wants three street lamp poles, which are danceable (meaning a dancer will swing around them) ...but they have to be quickly installed, removed, because they are only used for one dance number; and I can't leave anything behind in the floor, because it is covered...

    Challenging FOOLS Fountain

Love that philosophy...yes, the upside down fountain is certainly one of those "if we have the time and moivation, it would be really cool" effects .... but it is not essential to the story line... after all.... it is quite plausible that the fountain was there before the curse!

    Challenging FOOLS Fountain

I want to create an upside down fountain that sits in the middle of the village in Neil Simon's FOOLS ... Ideally, it would be constructed upside down (not difficult) ...but also appear to flow uphill ... until the curse is lifted, then it would flow as normal. Any ideas?
