I really agree with mixmaster's post. This is the way I would do it. This method has been used in many situations and works well. Don't be afraid to move the mics back and forth a few inches during sound check and then mark on the stage where you want both the mics and the singers.
Thanks everyone for your help and comments. It looks like it may be a case of us trying to hire a programmer to write some programs to get the lights to go to the levels we need.I really appreciate everyone who read my posts and replied. It really helps to have a printout of forum postings to...
I use the Sennheiser 100G2 system exclusively in my theatre. I chose it because it seemed to be the best value for the money. So far the only problem I have had is abuse to a microphone from a lecturer who wound the cable from mic to transmitter so tight that the wires broke inside.
len you have summed it up pretty good as to what I need to do. One of the reasons for using the Windows task scheduler (other than our IT dept is full of Bill Gates diciples) is the ease of access through the network to edit it when necessary. I would like to keep that.
sorry for taking so long to respond. To help clarify what happens in the theatre.
The Windows task scheduler runs a .cmd file which calls up the video playlist. This playlist is played using Media Player Classic. Every show has its own playlist. For example: show 'Alpha' plays at 11:00am -->...
Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone call help me out with a project that I have been working on for a while. My background is audio and video/film projection systems. I have essentially no lighting experience but I am doing my best to learn. Just to recap where I work from my intro post: I work in...
As someone who used to get paid for exploding balloons filled with hydrogen (the joys of working at a Science Centre) I have some comments. If you have enough hydrogen inside the balloon so the balloon is about the size of an average human head you will get a good bang and flame produced but the...
There are many reasons for using a DI box for plugging guitars, keyboards and even laptops into and audio system. Here are the reasons I have for doing it.
Reason One: change the unbalanced signal to a balanced one. I just feel more comfortable having a balanced signal coming into the mixing...
The only flying piano I've seen was about 20 years ago when the Vancouver Symphony did a concert in Whistler on Blackcomb mountain. They flew up their concert grand from Vancouver to Whistler under a helicopter. I was sure glad I wasn't in charge.
Doing 5.1 audio properly in a multi-use room is important. For our mult-use theatre at Science World I actually have two seperate audio systems. One is a Left-Right system that gets used for live events (presentations, science shows, live theatre type stuff).
The other audio system is a...
Just a note that we were never bought out by Telus. That's like saying the Vancouver Canucks hockey team is owned by Cheverlet because their building is called GM Place. Telus just bought the rights to put their name on the building. I don't work for Telus. I work FOR Science World, I work AT...
Just want to add my bits in. I use wireless mics quite extensively for the live events in my multi-purpose theatre. What the others have said is true, espicially the new batteries and not letting the performers touch the on/off/mute switches. Control the mute yourself. I talk to each...
I had a situation a couple of years ago where our video server went down in our automated movie theatre and we had to run manually off of the DVD backups. Someone had 'decided' to leave one of the DVD's out of its case, face up, when it wasn't being used and allowed some 'gunk' to get stuck to...
Greetings,
I'm Garth and I just located this place through some Google searches I was doing for lighting in a theatre setting.
A little about myself. I work at the science centre in Vancouver in the area of Theatre Operations. This basically means I show movies in our IMAX theatre as well...
