    Scene Shop help

Just need to get in on the Saw Stop option. I work at a small private university and we have one of the SawStop 10" industrial cabinet saws. I really do not feel it is a good idea for students. Between static build up, (Which Sawstop is very good about getting you a replacement if you send in...

    Sunday Chromolume #7

It has been requested that I attempt to find a Chromolume to rent for an upcoming production of 'Sunday in the park with George'. I think it would be much more fun to build one but what can you do. Checked in with a few of the regular props rental houses and nothing came up, does anybody know...

    What is this?

I would love it if all of these terms could be universal in all houses, it is fun trying to explain to students how you can west coast a soft good, unless you happen to be on the east coast, in which case you better ask what they think it means before you start to move the pipe. Does anybody...

    Snow Problem

    Crew music

In a shop setting putting on music can assist with work, if managed correctly. In my old shop we swapped off who got to put on a CD, or when they started coming around somebody could plug in an IPod. We kept the level low enough that you could hear someone if they were calling you from across...

    Ceiling Fan as windmill

Something to keep in mind is that a ceiling fan is not balanced to run on it's side. Strap the thing to the edge of the table and let it run a bit before you try to put it up anywhere.

    Stage Floor

If you're having problems at your local supply store when you ask for Celotex, ask for Homasote. Availability is different from one part of the country to another.

He Wants a Tree On Stage...

What you really need is more information. What kind of tree is he talking about and how many 'paths' up the tree need to support weight? Only build the structure you need to allow people to get where they need to be safe and sound. Once you have that info you can try to figure out the look of...

Hello Everybody New to the forum so I guess I should say hello. I work at a East coast Opera company as the ATD, but most of my experience is in fabrication. I look forward to talking with everyone.
