    How to mix

I'm not too sure, I can't really tell from where the console is located. I'll try to test when I get back to schoolThanks! We've had a few instances where offstage convos have come through in the middle of a scene, so I'll definitely make sure to mute mics when they aren't in use. Looks like...

    How to mix

Hello everyone!I know this is a very broad question, but here goes: I'm mixing my school's musical in a couple weeks, and I was wondering how one learns how to mix a show for theatre. I'm aware of what EQ, gain, etc are and how to use the console (we have a Roland M480), but I'm not entirely...

Teaching middle schoolers how to use ETC Ion

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, but my school is holding a workshop for 8th-graders to learn about our space and how to light it, and I was wondering if anyone had any input on things I should probably teach them or resources they've used in the past to teach...

    Organize and catalog inventory

I've been tasked with taking inventory and organizing all of our sound and lighting equipment as my semester final. We're a relatively new school, and we have a lot of stuff given to us by our district that we didn't even know we had, or know how to use, most notably what I think is a hearing...

    High School Job suggestions

Cool! Thanks for your responses. My school does have some jobs here and there, and I'll definitely look into stuff at nearby theatres.

    High School Job suggestions

Hi! I'm a high school student and I'm interested in getting some sort of part-time or temporary position. It doesn't specifically need to be theatre-related, but I would like to get a lighting or A/V gig somewhere. Any suggestions on where to look, or things I should know? Thanks, Jason

Is there an "easy" solution to record multitrack and video for "virtual soundcheck"?

I'm not 100% sure if Nuendo Live supports VST plugins but this might fit the bill: https://vidplayvst.com/ It gives you a separate window to view the video, and will stop, start and sync to the same location as your audio.

Budget Android Tablet recommendations (for work, not games)

I can't point to specific devices, but I'd recommend at least 1-2 GB of RAM so you don't have a device that constantly crashes. Regarding OS, as long as it supports Android Lollipop (5.0) there shouldn't be any problems. With a quick Amazon search, I found this...

Sound f/x MP3 files.....are they really that bad?

Is he still going to use DV cameras to record performances? "It's simple, just put the tape in and record!"Unfortunately, I speak from personal experience. The triggering part of this whole situation was, all of the cameras were connected to a computer through capture cards, so we could record...

    Replacing Par64s

I can't say much about fixtures. Would you be opposed to a software-based console? Vista by Chroma-Q (used to be Jands Vista) is really intuitive and the console dongles aren't super pricey. You can also buy fader wings which enable output.

Sound f/x MP3 files.....are they really that bad?

They aren't that bad. The only reason you need to have some sort of concern is: a) if you are playing the mp3 from a relatively weak computer, as it needs to uncompress the file, or b) the bitrate is very low. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but at a decent bitrate (at least 256 kbps) wavs...
