    Orchestra Pit Codes/Laws

I would seek out and ask a local Theatre Consultant. They are usually very well versed in the code requirements for performance venues. Over the past decade I have reached out occasionally when I had fire code questions. This is one of those things that can vary from state to state and may even...

Lighting Ugrade: Go all in on LEDs or add dimmer circuits?

I would say don't buy additional conventional dimmers. If there is space in your Dimmer Rack buy Relay Modules and have addition wiring and circuits installed on your overhead electrics. This will allow you to power your LED fixtures and turn them on and off from your Lighting Console. Relay...

    Wireless Intercom Storage Ideas

I am looking for storage ideas for my wireless intercom headsets. I have a Tempest System so the belt-packs are easy to store but the headsets are more difficult because of the long cables. Currently I have a hook on a peg board but thats not good as all the cables co-mingle and get tangled...

    Night Vision Camera

I'm looking to add a night vision camera to my Stage managers station. I was wondering what everyone uses and if there is a product that is highly recommended. I'd prefer something with a simple HDMI or SDI output, but I'm open to any suggestions.

    Christie DHD800 Lamp issues

So I purchased a few aftermarket lamps for my projector, and found out that Christie purposefully limits non Christie lamps to eco mode, the projector locks the lamp settings. I was told by tech support that there is no work around unless I pay 3 times as much for Christie lamps. Let's face it...

    EDI twilight controller issue

Hello, I have a twilight control system in my auditorium and last week something happened to the system and now only the main LCD panel works. The other panels are on but none of the buttons respond when pressed. I suspect it may have been a power outage or brown out that caused the system to...

Which lighting board to get for medium theater

ETC's new color source console is probably the best fit for you, I had a demo of it at USITT and its pretty user freindly. It is also less than $2000 if memory serves, it costs around $1700. It will work with conventional dimmers and LEDs so you've got the best of both worlds.

    Advice on Equipment upgrades

I just purchased 5 of the show babys as my school is starting to upgrade our ancient strip lights to LEDs. They have worked great, and I have not had any issues with them. I definitely recommend them. An alternative is to have cat 6 cable run up to your new position and use Artnet or any other...

    Advice on Equipment upgrades

I would recommend focusing on Infrastructure, mainly because lighting instruments can be purchased in smaller numbers and still be useful. You can't really buy and rig a truss then not supply power to it. As for getting 3 phase power to it See if there is Electrical work being done in the...

Radial Arm Saw or Sliding Miter Saw; Which is safer for h.s. students of all ages?

Knock on wood, I have never had any problems with my students using our Sliding Miter Saw. In the fall we do training for all new students and if I see some sloppy Technique from the upper class-men I give them a refresher course. Really the key to safe operation of any tool is training. So what...
