Are you in a position where you can meet with the MD and advise him of your opinion of how it looks as the LD? That is what I would suggest to do. I wouldn't go behind the SM's back to do it, I'd inlude the SM in the conversation so there is no misunderstanding.It's a fine line you walk with...

Interestingly enough, I was in literally the exact same position 1 yr and a half ago and we made the investment and it has been worth every penny.
