    lighting the cyc

    lighting the cyc

just for the record, i did have an epiphany the other day when i realized that yes, using lights at more of an angle WOULD create less spill onto the cyc! so i'm trying to do as much light from the first catwalk and above the stage, where it won't be at a "flat angle" but then what happens is...

    lighting the cyc

http://www.stagelights.com/floodcycloramalights.htm#Altman%20Sky%20Cyc you can get barndoors for those? i was unaware! that might help a bit. i am, however, inconveniently unfamiliar with barndoors, never having used them before.

    lighting the cyc

that is one thing i was wondering.. i've never tried lighting the cyc from the back, but i have used a cyc light on the ground behind the cyc for some special effects things, and it didnt seem like the throw was as large as from the front.. but this could be my imagination? and i usually try...

    lighting the cyc

i'd like the basics on lighting a cyc, please. i've gotten by so far with getting the cyc to look decent, yes, but i cant shake the feeling that something is not quite right, because i seem to run into a lot of problems. mainly, i have so much trouble getting an even wash. and if i can get...

    careers in lighting

thanks for everyone's input.. i'm really enjoying it! i do have to say tho, that i have decided to go in the chicago area. that may not be the best move in regard to theater schools, but theres several great schools in the area, and its important to me that im close to home. my sister went to...

    careers in lighting

i will tell you why i didnt mention NIU. its twenty minutes from home. which means, my parents would just love it if i stayed home..! not too thrilled about that..plus, i'd really love to work in chicago after school, and so it seems logical to go to school in the area.

    careers in lighting

That is definetly what I'm doing - im actually going to see one this Friday. basically my major concern is BA vs BFA. to me, it seems more logical to have a BA, because coming out of college with only one option seems scary - but then again, i've heard numerous times that there's plenty of work...

    Wicked

err.. I'll try, but a lot of that is decided by the musical director, and seeing as this is pretty early he might not even know. I don't know how big the cyc is and I have no idea how big the clock would be, we're having the technical director for the drama club build it (apparently he said it...

    Wicked

of course im going to see it! i've been searching youtube for clips and im going to see it with the choir feb 25 and with the drama club sometime in march. im not so sure a projection would work because some genius decided to put our projecter in an odd place so it doesnt really cover the whole...

    Wicked

So Concert Choir decided to do Wicked for their Pops Concert this year. Sounds great and all, but I've got to figure out to get all those cool effects with the lights. Just a few questions, to start out. I've lit the cyc before, but usually just one solid color, and generally I was never able...
