    Design Lighting Programmer?

I can only speak for NYC, as I haven't gotten out much lately, but the programmer is absolutely not going out of fashion. While producers still don't want to pay for one because they still don't understand why they are essential, if anything they are finally catching on. The fight to get a...

    SeaChanger fuse blowing

I have a bunch of Ocean Optics SeaChangers with blown fuses. Replacing the fuse, it just blows again immediately upon power up. Obviously there is a short of some sort somewhere. Has anybody dealt with this? Is there a common place that a short occurs? Is it user repairable? Visually, I can't...

Control Clay Paky Lamp via DMX control with ETC Ion Board

SOP around here is to lamp on when you arrive. Which for theatrical shows is one hour before half hour. The entire point of being there an hour before half hour is to be able to fix anything that isn't working. If you don't check that right away, you might as well not bother coming in.-Tim

    Showtime Light-O-Rama

I've been to the Lightorama forums but didn't find anything. Suppose I should post there. I came here because I am trying to network these using DMX and not their proprietary software. Just didn't think many Christmas light enthusiasts used the DMX aspect. Thanks, -Tim

    Showtime Light-O-Rama

Has anybody ever used the Light-O-Rama product? I have some secondhand ones that I am trying to get working and their website and customer service is pretty awful.-Tim

Automated Fixtures Martin Viper Lamp Flicker

I have had this issue with about a third of the Mac Vipers and Mac IIIs I have used in the last year. Changing the lamp doesn't work. The shop blames it on a bad batch of lamps. It's really annoying. I feel your pain.

Automated Fixtures Martin Viper Lamp Flicker

What kind of flicker? Is it an intensity flicker or does it look more like the hotspot is moving?

    Control/Dimming ETC Ion Functionality....

Oh. If that's what you want then, yes, Sk8rsdad is exactly right. I was confused as to what you were asking for.

    Control/Dimming ETC Ion Functionality....

You can learn event triggers for your timecoded cue list in live by pressing go, but that does not "learn" the fade time of a cue. It learns when you pressed GO. And then that cue list is played back via timecode. Not at all what the OP is looking for.

    Control/Dimming ETC Ion Functionality....

I am not sure what sk8rsdad is referring to. The EOS line does not have the functionality that you are looking for.-Tim

    Conventional Fixtures DMX Iris comparison

I would rule out the Rosco outright. Having to run hot power and 5-pin to it is annoying when you already have 4-pin there for the IQ. Setting the iris to home to open can been fixed at the console regardless of the unit, so don't think of that as a plus.I think I usually use the City...

Automated Fixtures Seachanger Problems: Intermittently won't settle on a color.

From the sound of it, my first bet is on sensors. Dirty or broken. I have a theater with about a hundred SeaChangers, purchased in two groups (about 4 years ago and about 3 years ago) and they are starting to see some weird behavior. Belts, sensors, etc. There aren't a whole lot of things...

    Is Chauvet really crap?

But not AEA approved. If that's something you have to worry about...-Tim

Control Clay Paky Lamp via DMX control with ETC Ion Board

As Nsimmons has said, Clay Paky makes lamp controls a toggle-able setting. It defaults to on, so as long as you haven't changed the setting in the fixture and patched it accordingly in the console, should be as Alex said.-Tim

    Etc Ion 2.0

There is nothing on the console that you can't do without touchscreens. Touchscreens just make programming faster. In a high school, this is probably not the number one priority.-Tim
