Nomad and Encoder Wheels

This year I purchased the ETC Nomad dongle (Eos Family) and have been developing a rig that has been working decently. I connected a keyboard and mouse to my laptop, along with a monitor. I also recently added a joystick that I found freeware to use to control the pointer (works great for the "trackball" function for movers).

My question is this: I want encoder wheels. I at least want one thing that will function similar to an encoder wheel. Has anyone discovered a way to use the scroll wheel on the mouse with the software to emulate an encoder wheel? In the meantime, I am saving up for the Nomad face plate, but if I can find a way to emulate an encoder wheel, I would only splurge for an X-Keys unit.

Griffen Powermate(s)?

It's totally possible to get a powermate or a scroll wheel working with nomad: you'd just need a little software in between to get them talking. Alternately, if you want a more full-featured solution, it wouldn't be too hard to build a custom box with four encoders and an LCD screen to mimic an eos family faceplate.
