Wow. Talk about a best case scenario for a floor collapse!

Brings back memories of a concert I went to in the 80's. The venue was Nottingham boat club, the band were Killing Joke.

The boat club was built, like many, on stilts over a cutting into the river bank,so that the boats, stored in racks, could be lowered straight into the water, then the crew could get in from the floor, then row out onto the river.

The music venue was in the room above the water. These days it would probably have a fire capacity of maybe 100, but back then it was just however many could squeeze in.

Killing Joke were pretty raucous, the beer flowed, the crowd were jumping, the floor was really bouncing, the water was immediately underneath.

This was a regular occurrence; a couple of months earlier, the crowd for a Holly and the Italians gig had been really, seriously convinced they were going to end up in the drink.

The venue is long gone.
