Mixers/Consoles Beringer x32 - Channels 1-16 not working

We recently tried to use the Beringer x32 sound system at Church, however we discovered that channels 1-16 were not working. We were able to identify that the problem was at the desk and not where the relevant mics were connected to. We also found out that connecting the same xlr cables to channels 17-32 proved effective. What could be the reason for channels 1-16 not working and how do we troubleshoot it?

Check which inputs are set to those channels. Sometimes those get set to using the digital snake so they won't recognize the analog inputs on the back of the console.
