Some of you know by now that I'm relatively new as the TD for 2 small community theatres which have minimal lighting capabilities. What book would you recommend for a theatre lighting newbie (with 30 years of construction experience) as a lighting design primer for 200-250 seat facilities? After that book is 'absorbed', what would be the next one to read?

I'd have to say the first book I'd buy would be
A Practical Guide to Stage Lighting, Second Edition.

Second, and more specifically for lighting design, would be
Parichy, Dennis. Illuminating the Play: The Artistry of Lighting Design. Heinemann, 2009.
