Hydrargyrum Medium-arc Iodide, a type of discharge lamp used in followspots, moving lights, and projectors. As with most arc sources, very efficient in terms of lumens produced per watt consumed, but unable to be dimmed electronically. The HMI offers superior CRI to most other arc sources.
