Colloquial term for hot-melt adhesive (Wikipedia link), a staple of prop denizens everywhere, as well as occasional use by all other departments.

The adhesive comes in sticks or cylinders

and is solid and stable at room temperature, then is heated for application by the hot glue gun. Forms a fairly weak bond once the adhesive cures (returns to room temperature), but speed and ease of application are its primary advantages.

While available for only a few dollars at arts & craft stores, avoid the temptation of buying a cheap tool. Industrial models last longer, are safer, and offer more consistent application. How to Choose the Right Glue Gun (Glu-Stix) .
