Hopefully it's a little late to sway anyone's vote, but this is a very interesting story from IATSE International about Local 12 in Columbus, Ohio. I find it especially interesting that the President took an entire hour of his last night campaigning to stay behind and meet a mere 65 union members.
I've also heard from sources outside the union that once the crew was in place the event did go off as smoothly and as professionally as the story would have you believe despite the facilities reservations about the union crew.
Read into this what you will as far as politics and timing goes as I would agree this probably wouldn't happen if it wasn't close to the election. But we get a lot of questions here about what the benefits of joining the union and here's one story.

PRESIDENT OBAMA PERSONALLY STANDS UP FOR IATSE LOCAL 12 STAGEHANDS

Side note: This is in no way a knock on the non-union guys that usually work in the Nationwide Arena. They are a great group of guys as well, and one of the highlights of a tour that goes through Ohio.
