johnson systems cd-3000 sys mux to dmx issue

so we had a cd-80sv unit die on us and upgraded our processor to a johnson cd-3000... prob is our sv rack has a mux a+b that is 5 wire to the existing connector... the new connector is not a prob to jump the common but lose the isolation between in and thru. What do we lose from losing the isolation between dmx channels... johnson said its fine but wouldnt specify what you actually lose by tying the commons in

Technically you do not lose anything. Almost every moving light and dimmer the input and thru are tied together thus the reasoning behind dmx is limited to 32 devices without a spliter.
