Since I made a scenic model (over 5 years). Well now I am making one out of familiar materials (foam core) but I don't have access to some of the tools that I used to (ie a band saw), anyone have any tips on how to cut foam core (particularly curved shapes) without a bandsaw?

For anyone curious I have discovered that making several passes with an exato knife works very well.

I've used plastic french curves with exacto knives for rounded shapes, making numerous light passes. One does have to be careful of how you twist the knife, so the blade rubs the plastic, instead of the edge digging in and notching the curve. Touching up the foamcore curves with emery boards (fingernail files) is a good trick.

Bandsaws can be good, but they always left a fuzzy edge on the bottom of the foamcore. Knives give less trouble of this sort.
