Mac 300

A mover newbie question: I finally have a few used Mac 300s that I'm sure are at least 10 years old - my first movers. They'll be hung in a small thrust theater. 2 of them have 700+/- hours and 2 have 4,000+/-. They all work well and respond to all commands correctly, but are noisy. Is this normal? They all sound about equally the same and the manual doesn't mention anything about lubrication. Thanks in advance for the help!

As long as they all sound about the same, then it is probably normal. Older movers tended to be louder and were often shunned for that reason. Between the fans and all those small stepper motors, they are a symphony of clicks, werrs and groans. Add a few years wear and things only got worse! There are some new movers that are darn quiet, but still plenty that are not suitable for a quiet environment. If the noise is objectionable, then your only option is resale. If it's not objectionable, then I wouldn't worry. They are what they are.
And, Welcome to Control Booth!
