Mixing brands

So my school has a Roland M400, I'm trying to get personal mixers for myself, the md, as well as two keys players. I know they sell their own system, but for that stop it would be over $4500. I see Behringer has their version, that is much cheaper. Is it possible to cross mix those two?

The Roland M-48 personal mixer uses the REAC to communicate with the console (and inputs/outputs). The Behringer systems use ULTRANET. They don't talk the same language.

I haven't used any of the behringer stuff in that realm, but i suspect there would be reasons why it is cheaper.

The Roland M-48s work quite well and are EASY AS HECK to configure and address.
