Sarcophagus for Man who came to Dinner, ideas?

So, doing Props for Man who came to Dinner. This show has a lot of bizarre but fun props like a roach farm and a crate of penguins. The biggest challenge is going to be creating a lifesize sarcophagus that the performer can easily get in and out of, is light weight but durable, and can wheel the performer offstage on a standing moving jack while in the sarcophagus....Ideas? I'm not worried about the detail painting but how to create the sarcophagus itself. Please keep a tight budget in mind.

gafftaper had a student who made a sarcophagus for a production. He may have some recommendations. How tight of a budget are you working on?

How expensive is it to build a plywood box? If you use 1/2 plywood, it can't be more than $60 with hinges. If you use 3/4" - not more than $80.

Tack on an armature of chicken wire. Use a can or two of gap filling insulating foam and shape the foam - so probably another $20.

You can build the box in a less expensive fashion by making whatever is not weight bearing out of lighter plywood, such as 3/8".

The foam is surprisingly durable. I've used it to make realistic looking rocks that have survived plays with children.
