Strand 300/500 Console

Anyone know why a mouse can be connected to this console?
I've no time with 500's but I maintained three tired old 300's for an owner. All I'm recalling of the mouse was it provided the quickest, least keystroke intensive, route to some of the set up functions. I think it came in handy changing sub-master modes as well. There were probably alternative ways of accomplishing the same things but I often found the mouse to be my fastest way of getting where I wanted to go. Sorry to be of so little help.

I used a trackball mouse on the 500 series to navigate the menu structure. Rolling the ball would highlight each different option and left clicking was (I believe) like hitting *.
