..and being on a job site with Brits (whom I suspect might work the 4th) I had to wonder why if a wrench in the US is a spanner in the UK, than why is a torque wrench not a torque spanner in the UK, but called a torque wrench?

I've wondered the same thing. I asked a Brit whom I toured with overseas that question once. The answer was honestly kind of what I expected from him though. It was along the lines of "F$@& if I know!"

Why does "lemons and limes" mean its easy?
