A method of distributing/transmitting DMX512 where the control protocol is a network signal, distributed and routed with standard network equipment, and is converted to DMX by a node located near the receiving devices (moving lights, dimmers, and such) or sometimes within the device itself. There have been several proprietary schemes: Strand ShowNet, ETC Net2/Net3, etc., but the industry is moving to universal protocols: Art-Net, ACN, sACN. Most provide for at least 64 universes (32,768 addresses) over a single run of the 8P8C cable.

Do not confuse with DMX-over-CAT5.
