    Control/Dimming CD80 Data Passthrough

Any controller from any vintage should fit right in, whether the old AMX-96 models (the ones with the mini TA4 connectors that labelled "Dim 1" and "Dim 2", etc.), the digital pack controllers from Strand (DMX and AMX-192 on XLR's) or any of the Johnson System retrofit variants (CD-PACKs...

    Dimmer Rack trouble...

MX brains are very sensitive to power issues. BTW, Cooper is now shipping MX's. I just sold a replacement brain to a local high school - power surge took out one rack, reset 3 other MX racks, Unison errored out, 1 Furman unit in their audio setup fried.

    Strand CD80 AE processor

We also fix them over here at Emlight but anyway...I was going thru my storage room (tripping over dimmers and stuff actually) and I found about 4 or 5 AE card cages. Don't know if the power supplies are functional (or even present) but drop me a line if you are interested and I'll see about...

Vintage Lighting Old "Lighting Control" 2.4K dimmer voltage input

From Tektronix: "“Floating” a ground referenced oscilloscope is the technique of defeating the oscilloscope’s protective grounding system – disconnecting “signal common” from earth, either by defeating the grounding system or using an isolation transformer. This allows accessible parts of the...

Vintage Lighting Old "Lighting Control" 2.4K dimmer voltage input

IF you mean you put an iso xfmr on the scope to float it then yikes!. You make a mistake like the ground lead on the hot and you floated the chassis of your lab scope to 120vac. Bad neutral - same thing even with the correct probe set up. If you have two probes of the same type, put your...

Vintage Lighting Old "Lighting Control" 2.4K dimmer voltage input

If it is a standard scope - don't do it. The ground lead of the probe is earth ground. Most if not all scope probes are not cat rated. Some scopes can't handle that high of a direct voltage either - especially in x1 mode. Use a Fluke ScopeMeter of a 120 series at least. You want a floating...

    Control/Dimming CD80 DMX Retrofit

Go to Emlight Design - Dimmer and Lighting Control Service - Dimmer Retrofits and you can see where I posted prices for the various retrofits. BTW, the Dr. Phil CD3K's came from us. I could fix up your CD2k mess as that was done by someone else. The slowness you may notice in your CD2K...

Cross Reference SCR in CD80 Pack

Right on the money. Old ramp card racks used anything from 5 to 15vdc for their pwm based on what rev the cards were (from rev a to rev s). CD80AE I don't remember but probably 5V. CD80Sv reversed fired.

    Leviton D4DMX dimmer nightmares

Always measure dimmers with a load applied. Triacs are basically diodes. As such voltage seeks to go across the highest resistance, in this case the open plug which has near infinite "air gap" resistance. Thus the AC on the input side of the triac go to the load side. EVEN IF THE DIMMER IS...

    power line conditioner

The worse was the LP3. You'll have to remember that these consoles had a unified memory structure. All ram including video was on one page. TO write to video you just wrote to ram. That's also the reason the disk could corrupt your console: they were just a direct memory dump - no real file...

    power line conditioner

You brownout an old MLP or MLP2 and you can kiss your setup goodbye. I never understood power conditioners versus ups arguments back then. Cost savings? What exactly use to happen to your MLP? Die completely? Scrambled nonsense screen? Lose show and setup?

EDI MX Mark 10 Rack Misbehaving

SO it sound like you do not have a DMX based lighting console. That's what I'm getting from reading your posts. The pictures you posted are of the EDI SMart System. It is a DMX based architectural system. The LCD panel gernerates the DMX for the dimmer rack and all other stations land to...

    Control/Dimming Strand SLD96 dimmer problems

That should be easy. The stations and processor are repairable and there are plenty of parts available. I take care of Premiere systems that have been running since Strand Electro Controls put them in 25+ years ago. Bulletproof if you UPS the processor power supply to protect the processor...

Cross Reference SCR in CD80 Pack

It is an SSR not an SCR. Do not confuse the two or bad things can happen. The part number that has been given to you is correct for Crydom. Teledyne also make great SSR's. For the Crydom SSR's: 40 or 50 amp will do. It is only a 20A dimmers and you are well enough overrated there. Do not...

Control/Dimming CD-80 Power Outage: Some lights not coming on

The SV processor often does not recover well from power events and if your rack is at least 10 years old then its secondary power supply might have been on its last legs to begin with. We fix about two SV's a week in our shop.
