Anyone have any experience with super cheap chinese movers?

Our Avolites Pearl Expert 2010 is FINALLY getting Titan after 4 very long years of me begging my bosses to upgrade the console. Anyway I was browsing ebay looking at stuff and found a couple of super cheap moving lights thinking maybe they would be something I could use to help me learn the new software. This wouldn't be used for a show, just something cheap I could use as a toy to help me get used to the new software. Anything I could rent locally would burn up the $100-$120 in a couple of day. Where as the cheap mover could maybe last through a year or two of playing around with it for a couple hours here and there. I'm sure I'll have to write a personality, but that won't be a big deal. Does anyone have any thoughts on doing something like this?

Here are a couple I was looking at:

Don't stop there - get units you can actually use. Make an offer on this deal right here - http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-X-TE-Spot...age_Lighting_Single_Units&hash=item4ad2c5ec28. These things are almost the output of an MSD250 and I know of 10 that came in through a US importer (essentially the same unit) that have been mounted yoke-out sideways in a club running 4 nights a week for a while now (years, probably 2 or 3 if I remember right) and I think they only had to replace 1 tilt belt and that's it. The tilt motor is actually mounted in back of the head - which I thought would be a bad thing - but I think it helps them move better when they're yoked out because the bearings are in the head and not in the yoke like most other movers. They've got a great gobo selection, and 2 gobo wheels. If I were to get movers right now for personal use for the small gigs that I do (which I'm thinking of doing), these would be them. You also may be able to get them cheaper ordering on Alibaba or similar. This is a design that came from China - not another design that was copied. It's also good that it has the PhlatLight chip, which is very easy to purchase independently if you have LED failure, but if it's within a certain time frame they might also send you one for free. 4 of these would be great deck movers or upstage dropdowns on T-bars. They're also tiny but surprisingly sturdy and bright. I think the low weight helps keep the pan and tilt from failing. Everybody and their brother, cousin, and uncle make this particular moving head over in China, and not all of them load it with the Phlatlight LED engine, so make sure you order one that does. Be aware that you also may be subject to customs fees depending on how they send the item.
