Conventional Fixtures Followspot Problem: Strong Radiance

In our theatre we have 2 Strong Radience spots and have had some trouble.

Last night during a show the dowser handle fell off. The reason is because the nut fell off. We have repeatedly tightened it to keep it on there.

Are there any techniques you would suggest to keep the nut on?

I was thinking of lock tight and see if that works. If you have something else in mind feel free to chime in.

Aviation nuts would work better. These nuts have slots on one end and the slot end is somewhat smaller. They work better than standard lock nuts, which have a plastic wafer in them that may melt away in the heat. Locktight may also degrade in the heat.

Edit: HA! The new ones look a bit different then the 40 year old ones I have! see- http://www.aircraftfast.com/the-monadnock-company.htm

You could use Loctite on it, If you want to get it off, use the blue, if you only want to get it off by using heat (I don't recommend it though) use the red. In a pinch use nail polish ;-)
