Ran across this in my downloads folder, and I thought some folks might be amused by... what I used to mix sound for a musical revue in Junior High, in 197...7?
The built-in spring reverb makes a really believable thunder crash when you smack it on the side.
Oh that's the fancy-pants model with the VU-meter and balanced XLR inputs. I have one sitting in storage, less the speakers. It's the lower-spec model that only has 1/4 high impedance inputs, and lacks a VU-meter though. The power caps in mine are starting to go, it's on the list of projects, but definitely isn't at the top.
In days of old I sometimes mixed on one like this:
Also, as Jay pointed out, this also had a spring reverb that got used for that loud TWANG sound.
Further trivia, Ivan Beaver of Danley Sound Labs has one with a thick glass top over it for his desk. Behind him he also has a wall stacked with his amp collection. Furthermore his monitor is a customised Kustom tuck and roll (blue sparkle IIRC) speaker column used sideways for his desktop monitor.
