Automated Fixtures Rosco I-Cue / DMX Iris Outside

Hey all,

I'm looking for a bit of advice on how to use an i-cue / dmx iris on an outdoor rig. There is no ceiling or roof structure, which makes it a bit more complicated. I'm in NJ, and the weather has been a bit crazy lately, so I'm not sure quite how to approach it.

Does anybody have any experience keeping them dry and happy?

I had thought to maybe get a large bin from Target, and bolt the c-clamp through the lid with some caulk around the hole to protect against drizzles. At postshow, then, I would be able to snap in the bottom with a bag desiccant to suck up any humidity, but I'm not sure if there is a more elegant or easier solution.

Thanks, all. Looking forward to your ideas.

I would make sure that whatever iris I used had a chain drive rather than belts. I can easily predict outdoor conditions playing hell with belt drives.

Permanent or temporary? how long will they be outside?
