The company I work for has finally gotten big enough that I either need to build or recommend a carpentry road box. Pelicans and Pack-Outs are all well and good for personal kits, but the time has come to start keeping all our hardware, spares and tapes in one centralized location. The system of multiple gig bags and floating items in the back of the truck just isn't cutting it.
Now, I might recommend they just buy a box from Case Craft to save me time and effort, but since I have shop capabilities at my disposal, I don't think it would be too difficult for me to just design and build an ideal case for our needs. Obviously, the off the shelf designs are pretty well suited, but there is always room for the voices of the more experienced to offer ideas for improvement.
If you've built your own carp box, what features are you glad you included? What things do you WISH you had include? And most importantly, what neat ideas have you seen out in the world that you wish your box had?
