Automated Fixtures VL2000 Experiences?

I'm wondering what everyone thinks of the VL2000 wash... I have the option of using a few of them coming up- they look good on paper, but I'm curious if anyone has hands on experience with them.

Well what's your intended purpose? Are they competing with any other fixtures?
I had 25 of them on a previous tour and they did what they needed to do. It's a 700w arc lamp so it will punch thru a 750w S4 when spotted, but when you wash it out all the way you start to lose intensity.
Some of the rental units are starting to get up there in age too. If you have to do any repairs on them, the connectors on the color bulkhead are subject to lots of heat and can be brittle. Also it uses a mechanical dowser blade to dim the light, compared to a glass dimmer wheel. So when you walk away for dinner/break, open up the dowsers or else you will end up with warped metal after awhile.

VL replaced them with the still current VL2500 unit.

Just general bits about them- obviously an older unit, but if kept well they seem to still be in working order? Color mixing okay-ish?

We ended up with 2Ks, which are certainly a different fixture but will work for what we're doing.
