A ALF Member Feb 10, 2017 #1 I was gone and someone jacked with the board. The paired DVD channel is making a constant thump sound, like maybe a ground fault? Thoughts?

Dionysus Well-Known Member Feb 10, 2017 #2 What do you mean by "jacked with"? paired DVD channel, I assume you mean one of the Stereo inputs? Plugged into the 1/4" inputs or XLR? What are you calling a "constant thump sound"? A ground fault would not cause a repeating thump. What does the meter for the channel show? what is the gain structure like? Does the DVD player output audio fine to something else? What do you hear when you PFL the channel?

F FMEng Well-Known Member Fight Leukemia Feb 10, 2017 #3 The preamp (head amp) gain is probably turned way up and you are hearing circuitry noise from the DVD amplified greatly. Be careful to check it in PFL, otherwise you might launch your speakers into the next county.
