It's the same Seachanger base unit with a fresnel lens on the front. You just buy the Source4 reflector unit and strap it on the back. They have a zoom just like a fresnel. You have to buy this adapter ring which runs about $45 in order to attach barn doors or top hats to it. Other than that it's the same seachanger technology.
By the way my new theater's control system is all Ethernet. You might want to seriously think about that. The theater consultant 3 years ago told me it was silly to design with anything else as ACN is the future. So everything is controled over ethernet until you reach the catwalks. For now we have to use DMX nodes to convert back to DMX once you get out there. Eventually that will all go away and it'll all be plug and play out there.
Hmm, seeing as the college just got 18 of the regular Seachangers, those would be a perfect compliment.
The thing is, I'm not sure if it would be better to suggest we get some of those seachanger washes, or color scrollers, which we currently do not have. With all the S4 PAR's we have, I can't help but think some scrollers would be useful. Regardless, Seachangers are nice units and I'd love to give that wash unit a try.
