    Focusing Hot Units

At my school we have a supply of Ove-Gloves we use when focusing anything hot. They provide great protection, and the rubber grips on them provide a good grip. These are my recommendation for a glove, but having one that covers the arm would be convenient for any crowded or difficult to reach...

    Pen you use

I have at least one Pilot V5 on me at all times, and usually two. I absolutely love them, which is usually how I end up destroying them. I always try to use them to stab small holes in things or to get a start on opening boxes. It works for a while until I break them.

Scrollers, I-Cues, and Auto Iris on SF

If you don't have the space for the Right Arms (you mentioned these are going into awkward places), then you could consider the Seachanger. That is pretty much your entire 2k right there, but if you can't have the Right Arms, this could give you something.SeaChanger

Scrollers, I-Cues, and Auto Iris on SF

I haven't had enough experience with either company of auto irises to say.But for the other part of your question, you can not mount an i-cue in front of a scroller, or at least our dealer has always told us. If you want to spend 2k and have both movement and gel scrolling, look into the...

    New Followspots

Speaking from the perspective of someone who works in a high school theater:First of all I have never had any problems running S4s with edison plugs, and there are generally a plethora of inexpensive adapters available to buy.Secondly, I have always been a fan of the S4s as followspots idea...

    DMX Daisy Chaining

So at my theater we currently only have one piece of intelligent DMX technoogy, some apollo smart color scrollers. We're about to expand our inventory, but before we do I had a question. We are about to purchase some Rosco i-Cues, and I was wondering if I can loop the DMX from the scrollers...

    DMX Controlled Lighting Bars

While it might have not been DMX controlled, it is possible that it was programmed as a cue.Texas Scenic makes a device that makes it possible to set movements of electrics or battens as a cue. They used to have two models, a small handheld one, and a larger unit for use in a booth. It looks...

    ETC Emphasis Server

I've been running a Insight off an Emphasis server for years, and it has never had a problem. However, as some others have said they do, I ALWAYS save the show to a floppy at the end of the day, so that if the server died, I could run the console in stand-alone.

    RGB Color Mixing

So I'm about to try some RBG color mixing using Altman R40s on the bottom, and 3-section ETC Multi-Pars at the top of my cyc. What gels are best for RGB mixing? Should I try it with Rosco's basic 124 Red Cyc Silk, 125 Blue Cyc Silk, and 126 Green Cyc Silk? Or maybe 120 Red Diffusion, 121 Blue...

    LED Striplights

The cyc is about 70 ft long and 25 ft tall if I remember correctly. Rather large.

    LED Striplights

Wow, so many great responses so fast. Thank you all so much! This leads me to my next two (related) questions. Using what I have, 4 8ft Altman R40 striplights and ETC 3 section multipars, how should I go about creating good cyc washed, and if possible color mixing? My second question is that I...

    LED Striplights

Hi everybody, this is my first post, so I'm sorry if I miss any formality. I work for a high school, and one of the parts of this job is lighting design for their shows. We have 4 Altman R40s that are 8 feet long, each with 16 lights divided among four circuits that we use to light our cyc...
