Radial Arm Saw or Sliding Miter Saw; Which is safer for h.s. students of all ages?

Thanks! I've heard a lot about the table saw sleds for crosscuts and have recently been getting more info on what is good and works best. I hope to make one over the semester break. Too busy right now building to have that dedicated time to get it finished!

Radial Arm Saw or Sliding Miter Saw; Which is safer for h.s. students of all ages?

I am the leader of a team of folks that help build for the local high school theater programs. We work with high school aged kids from all walks of life. The theater shop has an old radial arm saw that cavitates a lot when cutting 2x lumber; not so much for luan or 1x lumber. I have purchased a...

Does anyone have a good, reasonably priced source for platform brakes?

Thanks! We have some that look like those; good price, too.

Does anyone have a good, reasonably priced source for platform brakes?

As most high schools, we are really strapped for funds. Does anyone have a good, reasonably priced source for platform brakes? The kind that are piston based and push a rubber foot downward pushing the platform up slightly from the floor as an anchor. Thanks!

Does anyone have a video of a runaway batten/arbor?

That is an excellent idea! Great suggestion and good plan! Thanks!

Does anyone have a video of a runaway batten/arbor?

I saw the sales ad for the automatic braking system; it is much like those used on the four corners of elevators - something like the cord catch that mini blinds in the house use.

Does anyone have a video of a runaway batten/arbor?

Crazy question, can anyone point me to a video link showing a runaway batten or arbor; to use as a part of my school safety lesson. I thought maybe when someone had an older flyrail taken out that they might have taken the chance to make a teaching/educational video. Somewhat like when...

    Proper Fly Rail Commands

Do you have a picture of the arbor that fell? I think that would be a very impressive message to send to our high school students! Just wondering.

Into the Woods 3-d tree concept

Here is the scheme that we used to construct 3-d trees for Into the Woods. The skeleton is wrapped in burlap that was colored with dye using a garden sprayer.

Control/Dimming Chasing lights with a Strand LBX model 64051 using Genius F1.2G

Our board must have a fault in the Special Effects component. I've also found a few channels and submasters are non-functional. I ended up basically programming a series of cues using the link function and modifying the timing of fades in/out and wait. Does anyone know of a way to get the...

Control/Dimming Chasing lights with a Strand LBX model 64051 using Genius F1.2G

Thanks again! This is only my second time using the board and the first was really simply out of necessity. I'm not a theatre teacher or "person". I'm just the dad of one of the actress' and I lead a team of dads (couple of moms and a grandma) to design and build the sets; then take care of...

Control/Dimming Chasing lights with a Strand LBX model 64051 using Genius F1.2G

I get the red light just above the #1 on the Active menu and the green one right below. I see no other indication of any other light, other than the light under the word Chase and Fwd. I'm not at my board either. I will try to exit out of the EFFECT menu and go to the Standard Playback...

Control/Dimming Chasing lights with a Strand LBX model 64051 using Genius F1.2G

I believe it to be the LBX. I did exactly as you described. When I load it into the Active Effect 1, 2 or 3 and press Go/Stop, nothing happens. Yes, my effects fader is up at full. My steps are 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. When I scroll through them with the cursor keys the appropriate...

Control/Dimming Chasing lights with a Strand LBX model 64051 using Genius F1.2G

I followed the manual instructions for setting up the chase light effect. My screen looked just like the manual. However, when I went to "go" nothing happens. I've tried a variety of steps but to no avail. I am trying to use the "Effects" that should be built in to the system. Can anyone help...

Is there a standard for stage markings?

Our stage is hardwood planking and likely will be repainted every two to four years. We typically use spike tape but we seem to have to respike often; so a slightly more permanent solution is what we are thinking. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far. I really like the metal inserts idea!
