1:1 patch: Do you use it?

Honestly it depends on the situation. If I'm not using more than 120 channels (basing it off the board we use at work) then I'll stick with 1 to 1. Anything past that I try to patch up zones or how ever I decided to patch a show up.

    Your Favorite Tech Theater Lesson

The 2 things I remember doing in class was a hole section on smash glass and another on creating a CO2 "canon". Both were used on stage. Smash glass in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and the "canon" in an application we called Blood Boy for "Six Characters in Search of an Author"

    My Portfolio

The way I've always done my portfolios/resumes is having 1 copy that has everything on it, regardless of how many pages. Then from that I create smaller 1 page resumes. 1 resume for each area I have experience in. I seriously have like 4 or 5 resumes .It'll take a little longer, but it will be...

    Control/Dimming Dimmer Rack Problem

We recently purchased a new dimmer rack. It's about as new as you can get (The old one had the big packs, this one has the blades). For the first week, everything was fine. We were even able to have a couple movies for a camp that was there in the space. As recent as last week, we lost a bank of...

    Christmas Carol-Marley Entrances

So back at State, we did A Christmas Carol. For both entrances of Marley, we used a trap door lift along with some fog. Just a simple lift with a weight counter balance operated by 3 people. I'm just curious to see what other options are available if we hadn't gone with a lift.

    Element questions

That tells me then that something down in our auditorium could be wonky. We use two 60s , one up in the chapel and the other in the auditorium. They one we just got back was in the auditorium with the fried DRAM. The one in the chapel was down in the auditorium because we needed it for...

    Element questions

We've got an Element 60 board. Most of the time we stick with our first universe to control all of our stage lights and our second universe to control our house lights and a couple LED fixtures we have. We recently we're setting up for a group that was not only going to use the lights on stage...

Elevator stage on the cheap Wizard of Oz

A couple years back, we had a trap door for the witch's melting scene. We ended using a 8'x8' platform, 8' tall from the company's feature show that was going to be re-built, braced it up so we knew it wouldn't fall apart on us, cut a 3'x3' hole and used the plywood from that to create a...

Intercom systems that are compatible with Telex

According to my boss, he wants just a beltpack. I've been looking all over for a beltpack that is compatible with the 200 and have come up with nothing. I want to avoid having to buy a new intercom system if at all possible.

What inspired you to get into technical theatre?

I actually had an interest in theatre starting in high school, after my freshman class did a super small musical that was unique to our school system. Up til my 2nd year at Iowa State, I was focused on acting and directing. All it took to change my mind was a lab that was mandatory for me to...

Intercom systems that are compatible with Telex

My boss asked me to look into how much it would cost to get a new intercom system. I found that part out easily. The question I have, what is compatible with Telex equipment? From the way its sounded, he would like to replace one of the TR-200s with something close to it so we have to replace...
