Wireless Mics - Dante Spare Swaps

Agreed about finding a better solution. I am in the situation where the A2’s are people who have never been techs before, so the A1 ends up doing a bulk of the work.I like the idea of the DME64N, and it makes me think how great it would be to control Dante Controller via OSC. That way you...

Wireless Mics - Dante Spare Swaps

Hi Everyone,In the current world of Dante coming straight from wireless mics, I've been wondering how everyone is handling swapping to spare packs, while keeping it on the same channel of the console. In the analog days, we would just swap the physical XLR at the snake, but obviously harder...

For the X32 full board people, question

Yeah, I keep a 58 in the console case with a 5' XLR, and always have it available. Since you have 2 talkbacks, I always route 1 to be the Mains as a VOG, and the other to whatever mixes are pointed to the stage, as a true talkback. Has worked well for me so far!

For the X32 full board people, question

If it is just for announcements and such, and you don't need any processing, the Talkback input is always a good option. You can route that to any of your mixes, which makes it pretty flexible and doesn't eat up your channels.

How to anticipate outdoor lighting (sun angle) 2.5 months from now?

Wolfie's suggestion of Photo Ephemeris is the correct answer here. It is used by photographers to know the direction and angle of the sun's light, for planning outdoor shoots. The iOS app even has an Augmented reality feature, that will show you the position of the sun on any date at any time...

    mic tape

Another option for a stronger hold is 3M Tegaderm, cut into strips. I buy rolls of it on Amazon. It may be a bit more expensive, but it sticks really well. It's the stuff they use to hold IV's into an arm.

    USITT Diagram Software

I agree with @themuzicman. I use Omnigraffle for all of mine. I started with referencing both the USITT standards, as well as other block diagrams I have found from other designers. Then I adapted them into my own workflow, and my own symbols that work for the systems I put together.

    Spikemark, Resolume, and OSC

That was my first thought, but I haven't had any luck finding the way to route the messages. The messages I am receiving are formatted as: setInput "Curtain" 10.0162293494112 \r\n The variable in Parentheses changed based on what Set Piece it is, either curtain, or the 6 panels we have...

    Spikemark, Resolume, and OSC

Hey everyone,I am trying to convert the UDP Messages coming out of Creative Conners Spikemark software and convert it to OSC messages, but haven't had much luck.As for the why, our production is using Automation and we are trying to match video content to the moving panels onstage. With...

    Ethercon Termination for Behringer x32

Yes absolutely. Ethercon is just a neutrik casing that goes around a standard RJ45 Ethernet connector. It is not necessary to have an ethercon connector at all, and you could just plug Ethernet straight into the board. That being said, I prefer ethercon because it provides a much more resilient...

    A2 Kit

I haven't found any compiled threads about A2 Supplies and resources. Curious as to what everyone keeps in their A2 Kit. Any interesting tricks or tools? Also, does anyone have any resources that they can share? I think it would great to just have a place we can all look to for some of this info.

    Qlab 3 Mapping Help

A Mask is going to be the best option. In QLab, you can export an image of the grid, and then in photoshop, create a mask based on where the projections need to cut off the stairs.

Who is going to NAMM 2018?

I’ll be walking the show Thursday and Friday (before heading into work for shows those nights). First time attending, so I’m excited to see what they have geared toward live events.

"No Time At All" Lyrics from Pippin

When I did it a few years ago, we projected the words and used a follow spot (as tight as we could get the iris, to simulate the ball on top of the words. Not a super high-tech option, but it worked pretty well!
